Private Individual Sessions
Private individual sessions, either at Helaine's office or in your home, are tailored to meet your specific needs and preferences. In a one-on-one session, you have the opportunity to determine the focus.
Private sessions can be ongoing or a one-time experience, depending on your needs and interests. You might choose to have a yoga session very similar to a class, but with more opportunities to optimize your alignment and deepen your personal experience of yoga. Individual sessions can also be used as a support for launching and sustaining an independent practice tailored to your specific needs and schedule, or to develop a practice designed to help you with a specific problem.
In many cases, a regular yoga practice can work to resolve or ameliorate a variety of physical and psychological problems including:
- Insomnia or other sleep difficulties
- Nagging pains, tightness, or weakness in particular areas of the body
- Depression and/or anxiety
- Structural problems such as a "dowager's hump"
- A weak immune system
- Preparation for or recovery from surgery
If we design a routine for you, the emphasis is always on YOU. This might mean taking a realistic look at your life and seeking a way to make yoga an integral part of who you are and what you do. Ten minutes a day of yoga integrated into your life, or even a simple commitment to breath and stretch when you feel tension building, will be infinitely more valuable to you than an elegantly detailed plan that you'll feel badly at not carrying out. Sometimes you may find written instructions or an audiotape helpful in supporting your practice.

(Individual sessions require 24 hour cancellation notice except in cases of illness or extreme emergency or you will be billed for the session.)
